Mazatlán, Sinaloa. – The south of Sinaloa reached during the past vacation period an economic spill of 3 billion pesos, of which Mazatlán captured 75 percent, announced the president of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of southern Sinaloa.
Roberto Lem González, acknowledged that the port did very well during the period that started on December 12 and will end on January 6, by capturing 2,275 billion pesos.
“The spill is 3 billion pesos in the south of the state and for Mazatlán we would be reaching 75 percent of that amount, which for us would add 2,272 million pesos,” he said.
The Camaral leader acknowledged that reaching this figure in less than 3 weeks is beneficial for the destination since it represents a return to the 2019 indices for what is expected in 2022, to equalize and exceed this amount.
“We have always bet on the growth of commerce, that commerce fulfills its objectives and I believe that we are on the right track, especially in tourism, where Mazatlán has been very well accepted as the first term when people want travel, “he added.
He said he feels optimistic for 2022 because things are going to improve even more since 2021 was very good and they are expected to be better this year.
He called on tourism service providers to continue implementing the prevention protocols for Covid-19, so that it continues to be shown outside Mazatlán, which is what is being done and well.
“We hope that sooner or later this will pass, the issue of the pandemic will normalize and logically that it will permeate into other turns of the sectors that we are representing, such as the commerce sector,” he said.
