The epidemiologist of the Sanitary Jurisdiction number 6, said that to combat the proliferation of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, better known for spreading diseases such as Zika and dengue, they began spraying in some colonies, however he excused that it is not possible to spray in all colonies of the port, in addition to the fact that “it is another type of mosquito” that neighbors complain about

Mazatlán, Sinaloa. – Given the proliferation of mosquitoes throughout the city due to the flooding that the rains have left in recent days, residents of several Mazatlan colonies have asked the health authorities to fumigate, especially in the sectors of the periphery, which is where mostly reproduces.

Alejandrina López, a neighbor of the Prolongación 20 de Noviembre colony, commented that the sectors that have been most affected by this plague are those found on the banks of the Jabalines stream, where once the current is cut off, the larvae begin to reproduce by thousands.

Mazatlán is 'a stilt walker'; Neighbors in the north denounce the multiplication of mosquitoes

“Look, he’s a mosquito, he just falls late and they hit you in the face all day. We fear for the diseases that they generate, such as dengue, and apart from that it is a nuisance to be fighting with the flies ”, he commented.

Tina Burciaga, a resident of the Bugambilia subdivision, said she was in the same situation because they have the same stream a few meters from their homes and the annoyance is already unbearable.

“We lock ourselves in at night and no longer go out because we feel that if we do when we open the door they get into a flock and it comes out a little worse to get them out because not even the insecticide is respected,” he denounced.

For his part, Jesús Reyes Reyes, epidemiologist of the Sanitary Jurisdiction number 6, said that to combat the proliferation of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, better known for spreading diseases such as Zika and dengue, they began spraying in some colonies, however, he excused that it is not possible to fumigate in all the colonies of the port, in addition to the fact that “it is another type of mosquito” that the neighbors complain about.

“If they are fumigating where the cases come out, there are health problems that is another type of fly, it is not the transmitter of dengue, but if they continue to fumigate where the risk areas are, where there are probable cases of dengue. We cannot fumigate the entire city right now, ”he said.

Reyes Reyes asserted that the vector personnel are those who are carrying out the fumigation campaign, in addition to that they are working in the Flores Magón, Estero del Infiernillo and colonies with higher risks from where the disease is caused by the picket of the mosquito.
