Julio Birrueta announced that August closes with 50% occupancy in lodging centers in Mazatlán

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- At the end of the summer vacation period, the Mazatlán hotel industry enters a period of low influx of tourism, so it will begin to “ push ” towards the fall.

The director of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán, Julio Birrueta, confirmed that the holiday period was below expectations since July had an average of 63% and August closed with 50%.

” Occupancy expectations of 53% were brought, but it was not possible to turn around so much, since we are going to close the month between 48 and 50%, but it is okay, we are within the limits, ” he said.

He recalled that due to the red traffic light of the Covid they brought a 45% allowed density in the hotels and by turning to yellow it will help people not stop coming to Mazatlán

” That is why we are regrouping because when we changed to yellow, everyone was warned and we hope that tourists will visit us during the weekends, ” he said.

Julio Birrueta said they are pushing the fall, since the months of September, October, and November are a great challenge for the hotel sector.

He explained that in the following weeks a little of everything will be done, such as reorganizing people who did not want to travel during the summer, giving employees vacations and that some hotels go into maintenance.

” People who had not been vaccinated and who have already done so, are settling in, it is also time to give employees vacations, some hotels go into maintenance and above all continue with health protocols, to take good care of that yellow color ” , ended.
