Mayor of Mérida offered Eduardo Ravelo’s mother 2.5 million pesos not to report his rape and death at hands of police

María Ravelo mentioned that her son managed to tell her about the abuse he suffered by the Mérida police officers and that she recounted everything they did to him when they arrested him and when they took him into custody. “He told me everything, so I ask for justice for my son, because this case cannot go unpunished. The prosecutor is hindering the investigation,” she said. 

Joses mother noted that the Fiscalía General of the State has supported from the outset; “he helped us, he provided us with an ambulance when my son was in the prosecution;” my son would tell me please mom, take me to the hospital, I can’t take it anymore. “

He assured that in this investigation to clarify the facts, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic (FGR), the National Human Rights Commission ( CNDH ), and state authorities will participate.
