Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- This summer, Mazatlán will have a capacity of around 710 thousand tourists from different parts of the country, according to projections from the Federal Government’s Secretary of Tourism, which places it in third place in the table of destinations of sun and beach in Mexico most visited, preceded only by Cancun and Acapulco.

The federal agency estimates that this season the hotel occupancy of this port could reach 75%, the highest at the national level.

The forecast for this holiday period is that at the national level there will be an increase from 17 to 48% with respect to the capacity of tourists and visitors in 2020, with an economic spill of 56 thousand 675 million pesos to 44 thousand 298 million.

The Mexican destinations with the most tourists in sun and beach destinations would be Cancun with 1.5 million visits, Acapulco with 1 million 30 thousand people, and Mazatlán, with 710 thousand; in the case of large cities, there is Mexico City with a projection of 943 thousand tourists, Guadalajara with 590 thousand and Monterrey with 271 thousand.

The average accommodation in the country is 52.2% for this summer; However, in some destinations such as Mazatlán, 75% is expected, in Cancun 70.6% and Los Cabos 70.4%.

PORT ATTRACTIONS

As in previous years, the most popular places for tourists in Mazatlán are the boardwalk and the beaches, followed by the Aquarium, El Faro, the Historic Center, the City Center, Plazuela Machado, and Isla de la Piedra, whose visitors The friendly and cheerful treatment of the people stands out, as well as its gastronomy rich in dishes based on seafood and fish.

DESTINATION WITH LAND TOURISM

Óscar Pérez Barros, Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa, has recognized that 70% of tourists who arrive in Mazatlán, do so by road, while the other 30%, by plane.

In the last two weeks, the Mazatlán Bus Station has registered a daily average of 160 to 170 runs, with 1,000 to 1,200 travelers, which represents a 70% recovery in passenger capacity, of which many of them arrive to this destination for a vacation.

The general manager of the Mazatlán Bus Station, Álvaro Peña Torres, reported that passengers are arriving from Mexico City, Monterrey, Durango, Culiacán, Aguascalientes, Torreón, Chihuahua, Tijuana and Ciudad Juárez.

For his part, the coordinator of Ángeles Verdes, Ricardo Picos Quintero, reported that during the month of July vehicular traffic on highways increased by up to 40%, mainly from units that come from the entities of Durango, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas, destinations that belong to the Northern Economic Corridor, and that travel to Mazatlán on these dates.

WHAT TO DO IN MAZATLÁN?

Among the main activities that can be done this summer, Mazatlecos recommend tourists to travel the Malecón by pneumonia or by bicycle; climb the lighthouse cross country, at sunset or early in the morning, to avoid the hottest hours; go to Isla de la Piedra to spend a day at the beach and eat fresh seafood and fish, or visit the island of Enmedio, which involves traveling by boat or amphibian.
