One of the sectors that is also most vulnerable to this natural catastrophe is livestock, as farmers seek to grow their herds to increase production of meat, milk, and their derivatives, and this generates a greater demand for water.

Mazatlán is an internationally renowned beach destination and until 2019 it had approximately 12 thousand hotel rooms, and each room requires at least 2,500 liters of water to maintain them.

Without water there is no tourism, so the tourism industry needs to participate in a common agenda for water.

Collaterally, the food industry is not exempt from being affected by severely low water levels since packers, canners and freezers require huge volumes of clean and quality water for their processes.

It is estimated that to produce one kilogram of mango, 1,600 liters of water are needed, so if the situation worsens, this sector would be seriously damaged.

Unfortunately, there is still a lack of culture to give proper treatment and use of water for human consumption and thus minimize, even in a small part, the problem that tends to become serious.
