Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- To commemorate International Women’s Day, dozens of Mazatlan will come out to demonstrate to demand an end to gender-based violence.
According to the feminist collective Perlas del Pacífico, the demonstration will begin at 4:30 p.m. from the Monument to Women and will culminate in the monument to Lola Beltrán, after a 4-kilometer journey.
The contingent will be divided into six, headed by relatives of victims of femicide; followed by mothers with babies and women with disabilities; from there follows the contingent of women; later batucada; then the mixed contingent, and finally a caravan of vehicles.

The Perlas del Pacífico collective launched a form for those women who wish to participate in the demonstration and be able to organize them into a specific contingent.
The demand for the Sinaloa authorities by women belonging to the population of sexual diversity is that they promote affirmative actions in favor of women, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals, transgender, transvestites, intersex, lesbomarentals, indigenous, Afro-Mexicans, and people with disabilities.
Within the framework of International Women’s Day, they denounced that one more social disadvantage they face is discrimination due to lesbophobia, biphobia, and transphobia, as there are also few public policies that guarantee their rights.
Through a statement, they urged the authorities of the three levels of government to guarantee a halt to violence against women, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals, and transgender people. Demanding justice, gender parity, and an end to femicides and trans femicides.
The Secretary-General of Inclusive Sinaloa, Almendra Negrete, commented that in the state there is a long way to go for substantive equality and guaranteeing the human rights of LGBTTTIQ + women.
“Days like this, March 8, invite us to make an analysis of the conditions that women have in the country and in Sinaloa, the reality is that practically nothing has been done in the recognition of women in the state, much less for diverse women, “she said.
The activist invited the State Attorney General’s Office to develop protocols of attention to cases of violence against the LGBTTTIQ + Sinaloense community.

In Culiacán, families of victims of femicide will meet at FGE
This March 8, at 11:00 a.m., groups such as Altered Women of Sinaloa will go to the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office (FGE) together with relatives of victims of femicide .
Later, at 5:00 p.m., the groups will carry out activities to intervene in public spaces in memory of the women victims of femicide in the entity.
