Mazatlan’s ‘New Normal’ will welcome tourists for “Semana Santa”

At the moment, there is already 60 percent of the hotel occupancy reserved for that holiday period that goes from March 28 to April 12

Mazatlán, Sinaloa (Feb. 20th, 2021) .- Municipal authorities, health department, public security, and rescue forces, as well as the Business Sector in the tourism branch, are preparing to receive this Holy Week and Easter hundreds of vacationers who by tradition visit this beach destination every year, but this time they all will have to comply with the guidelines of the New Normal, in the face of the global crisis arising from the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Luis Tiburcio Terán Tirado, head of the Ministry of Economy, Tourism, and Fisheries of the Mazatlán City Council announced that the operation that will be implemented called ‘New Normality’, will be carried out throughout the city, but will be mostly intensified in those points with the most tourist influx in Mazatlan, by tradition.

“We hope to extend it throughout the city and the busiest points that are Cerritos, Zona Dorada, Olas Altas, El Sábalo, where more people gather, and that’s where the strongest part of the operation will be carried out,” he said.

Terán Tirado announced that to begin with, tourists and locals will be firmly asked to wear a face mask and measure their healthy distance between one person and another.

“Hopefully the situation will improve by then, right now we still have 80 new cases a day, hopefully we will be in a better position at that point in time,” he confided.

The municipal official reported that at the moment there is already a 60 percent registered in hotel occupancy for that holiday period that this year goes from March 28th to April 12th.
