Santa Maria de Oro Nayarit receives international Blue Flag award

Nayarit has four of these international awards, which certify the excellence of beaches, marinas and bodies of water

The Ministry of Tourism of Nayarit managed to get the Santa María de Oro Lagoon recognized again with the international Blue Flag award, which the European Foundation for Environmental Education grants to beaches, marinas, and bodies of water that has reached excellence in environmental information and education, water quality, environmental management, safety, and services.

In this regard, the Secretary of Tourism, Antonio Riojas Meléndez, reported that there were four Nayarit destinations recertified with said badge: Nuevo Vallarta Norte beach, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Marina, San Blas Marina and Santa María del Lagoon. Oro, “the only certified lagoon in Mexico,” the official said.

Riojas Meléndez pointed out that the Blue Flag Award is given every year, so the bodies of water in Nayarit are always under constant review. The Ministry of Tourism works together with the municipalities, secretariats, and corresponding authorities in the sum of efforts to maintain the certifications, he pointed out.
