The local authorities reported in the corresponding investigation folder that it was on Tuesday 15, around 3:15 p.m., that shots were heard outside the home of Gómez Gómez.

After the incident, no injuries were registered, since the mayor and his family managed to take cover.

They were identified as followers of Juan ‘N’, an inhabitant who has proclaimed himself as president of the community’s Municipal Council, and who is currently imprisoned.

In August 2019, the subject was prosecuted as likely responsible for the crimes of aggravated robbery executed with violence and mutiny, to the detriment of the Chamula City Council, and imprisoned in the State Center for Social Reintegration for Sentenced Persons (CERSS) number 14 “el Amate ”.

In those days, accompanied by his followers, Juan ‘N’ stole computer equipment from the local town hall, and would have taken over the building if not stopped by local authorities.
