By majority of votes, the LXIII Legislature of the Congress of the State of Tlaxcala approved this Tuesday an opinion that reforms the local Civil Code, which allows equal marriage in the entity. The articles object of the reform are: 39 first paragraph, 41 first and third paragraph and 46

The proposal, presented by the PRD deputy Miguel Ángel Covarrubias Cervantes, was endorsed in general and in particular by 16 of the 19 local legislators present. The deputies who voted in favor argued that the priority of the current Legislature is to guarantee the right of all people and eradicate discrimination.

Thus, Tlaxcala becomes the 22nd entity to approve a civil union between people of the same sex.
