La Paz, Baja California Sur cancels Carnival for the first time due to covid

La Paz, Baja California.- For the first time in history, the La Paz carnival will be suspended, due to the unstoppable contagions of Covid-19.

It was this Thursday when the mayor of La Paz, Rubén Muñoz Álvarez, announced it since there are no conditions after the pandemic that invades the state of Baja California Sur. 

It is this event that requires several months of work, the determination is that Carnival 2021 is canceled, given that there are no conditions, said the president of the capital of Baja California Sur. 

The mayor also reiterated that there are no sanitary conditions to carry out the most anticipated event of each year in the city, nor did he give hope that it would take place virtually.

In fact, the La Paz Christmas Tianguis was also canceled by the authorities, with the aim of preventing more coronavirus infections.

Currently, in Baja California Sur there have been 13,289 registered, of which 11,901 have recovered and 625 people have died.

light and due to the rates of infections and deaths that occur locally by Covid-19; The
determination has been made in a responsible way to postpone all the activities that are
generally programmed in celebration of the Carnival La Paz 2021, this with the
the knowledge that the festival with the greatest tradition in the state capital brings together
thousands of people along the boardwalk and it would be high risk. While waiting
for favorable health development, the decisions made within this body will be informed
in a timely manner for the benefit of South Californians and visitors, interested in our
traditions. We reiterate our commitment to citizens, pondering the life and health of all ”.
