Covid-19 pandemic has orphaned children in Sonora

The Sonora State Secretary of Health pointed out that the pandemic has truncated the life project of children and families, an effect that can be reversed if preventive measures are taken.

Orphans who have lost their parents as a result of Covid-19 are one of the cruelest social aspects and one that most often goes unnoticed during the pandemic, said Enrique Clausen Iberri.

The Secretary of Health stated that in Sonora there have been cases of girls and boys who this pandemic took away their life project by leaving them helpless and defenseless.ADVERTISING

“We cannot measure the magnitude of the impact for governments and society, however we are sure that some of these children, beyond the impact of their loss, are at risk of losing their education,” he explained.

According to the official, the pandemic will have strong effects on generations to come; however, there is still time to stop them if the population takes the necessary measures.

Today the Ministry of Health confirmed 14 deaths from Covid-19 in 10 men and four women residents of the municipalities of Guaymas and Navojoa (4 each), San Luis Río Colorado, Caborca, Etchojoa and Naco.

Most of the beneficiaries belonged to the Ministry of Health, with 11 of the deaths taking place in the hospitals of the instance, followed by the IMSS with three; With this, the number of fatal cases of Covid-19 increased to 3,114.

Likewise, today there are 107 new cases of Covid-19 in 64 women and 43 men, accumulating 37 thousand 93 cases in total since the beginning of the pandemic in the entity.

At least 50 of these cases occurred in Hermosillo residents, establishing this time as the epicenter of the pandemic; later Cajeme appears with 25 infections.

Today two pediatric cases were confirmed, accumulating 731 in total, as well as two more in pregnant women, bringing the number of patients to 266.

According to the statistics of the health services, approximately four of the 107 cases occurred in workers of the various hospitals of the entity.
