Municipal authorities announced that in Escuinapa there are more than 100 detected cases of dengue

Escuinapa, Sinaloa.- Actions to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito have been strengthened in recent weeks in the municipality of Escuinapa, Sinaloa, since the number of dengue cases has skyrocketed, adding to date around 105 cases confirmed by the Sanitary Jurisdiction Number 6. This was reported by Javier Palomares Barajas, Escuinapa’s head of the Municipal Medical Services.

” There are more than 100 cases of dengue in Escuinapa at the moment, according to data provided by the Health Jurisdiction and we have been working to reduce this incidence,” explained Palomares Barajas.

He warned that in addition to the high non-severe dengue infections, there is the presence of serotype 2 (hemorrhagic) that is considered serious and that could be life-threatening if not attended on time.

Faced with this serious public health problem that exists in Escuinapa caused by the aedes aegypti vector, municipal authorities work in close coordination with the personnel of the Sanitary Jurisdiction Number 6 to implement actions that allow the eradication of this insect with permanently discarding campaigns in the municipal seat and its communities.

In addition to the discharging campaigns, abatement and fumigation actions have been carried out. But these actions have not been enough since the fly reproduces again after a few days, for this, citizen participation is necessary with cleaning inside their homes eliminating the breeding sites of this insect.https://67b2a4338f840d2b18b8c99ff3febd4d.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-37/html/container.html?n=0

“In Escuinapa the ecosystem is proper for this type of insect to reproduce easily, coupled with the culture of the Escuinapa of being accumulators despite knowing that the mosquito reproduces in warm humid places with stagnant water inside the houses and patios, there is a large number of objects where the dengue-transmitting mosquito can reproduce, “he said.

The head of the municipal medical services reported that the symptoms of dengue are fever, headache, muscle pain, joint pain, sore throat, in some cases conjunctivitis, and a reddish rash.

In severe cases, these same symptoms can be registered but with dehydration and there may be bleeding due to the low pressure in the body.

He took the opportunity to invite the population to continue taking care of themselves, adopting preventive measures such as cleaning up their homes, and the use of repellants to avoid the bite of these insects.

In his last visit to the municipality, Andrés Sidhartha Hindú, head of the Sixth Health Jurisdiction, reported that in Sinaloa in 2019 the number of non-serious dengue was 35 cases and in 2020 the figure has increased to 198.

Those considered serious (hemorrhagic dengue) in 2019 there were only 5, although this year there are already 3 proven cases in the municipality of Mazatlán.
