Chiapas governor Rutilio Escandón endorses commitment in promoting the Maya Train Project

Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas; October 16, 2020.- Within the framework of the signing of the collaboration agreement between the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur) and the Government of Chiapas, Governor Rutilio Escandón Cadenas reiterated his commitment to work in relation to procedures, licenses, or authorizations to promote the works of the Maya Train Project, which reflects the vision of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to strengthen equality between the north, the center and the south of the country.

The president pointed out that this agreement signed with the head of Fonatur, Rogelio Jiménez Pons, gives viability, legal certainty, and security that in Section1 of the Maya Palenque-Escárcega, the Government of Chiapas will be present to verify and monitor the progress, in order for the work to be carried out efficiently and concluded in a timely manner.

“Despite the pandemic, we continue working and we look forward to the start of this work that will undoubtedly benefit the states which will remain united. We have great natural beauties to offer, we have very generous people and a vast territory ”, he pointed out.

He also stressed that in addition to the fact that Chiapas has great natural and cultural potential, it will do its part for the success of the Maya Train Project, while explaining the effort being made in the remodeling of the “Ángel Albino Corzo” International Airport, which receives national and international flights.

After highlighting that inter-institutional linkage is essential to advance and increase the positive effects of the Maya Train Project, Rogelio Jiménez Pons said that added to the great benefits in tourism, this work will allow diversifying local economies, triggering commercial activity and giving added value to the agri-food production chains of Chiapas and the rest of the southeast states.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Tourism of Chiapas, Katyna de la Vega Grajales, pointed out that only with the sum of efforts, resources and capacities of the Federal and State governments, the Maya Train will have the success expected by all, at the time of endorse its willingness for this project to be carried out through the comprehensive inclusion of all sectors.

The legal director of Fonatur, Alejandro Varela Arellano; the territorial link of the Mayan Train in Section 1 Palenque-Escárcega, Carlos Barceló Ruiz; the Secretary for the Sustainable Development of Indigenous Peoples, Emilio Ramón Ramírez Guzmán; the Governor’s legal advisor, César Amín Aguilar Tejada; the Undersecretary of Government, Jorge Cruz Pineda, and the Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion of the State Sectur, Guadalupe Rodríguez Miceli, they all attended the event.
