Several hotels have begun to receive hotel reservation cancelations 30 percent are tourists from Canada and the United States, due to the Covid-19 pandemic
The 2020-2021 winter vacation season in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is at risk, considered the President of the Mexican Association of Hotels and Motels of Zihuatanejo, Rogelio Lozano Calderón, when informing that he has received the report that several inns have begun to cancel their reservations 30 percent of the reservations are tourists from Canada and the United States, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The hotelier by phone announced that it is a situation that worries them, especially because they are visitors who have been arriving at the beach annually continuously for more than 25 years and that today, thanks to the fact that medical insurance does not cover infections due to the coronavirus, they do not have the confidence to travel, because they would be left unprotected if they get sick.
Hoteliers regretted this news because after several months closed and without economic income, the arrival of foreign visitors meant the hope and respite they expected, especially due to the significant economic spillover they are giving up, but it is looming that it is not going to be a good holiday season.
Lozano Calderón considered that if the number of infections by Covid-19 continues to rise, cancellations will also go up, taking into account that tourists do not want to reach a destination where they have a high probability of getting sick.
That is why he launched a call to the public to abide by the sanitary measures, because it is not possible that if he is on the yellow epidemiological traffic light, Guerrero is now at risk of reaching the color red; He indicated that government actions have been successful but it is not enough and it is useless if the entire population does not collaborate.
