234 national and international flights are expected to arrive in Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit

Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico confirmed that in October there was an increase in the arrival of foreign tourists to the Puerto Vallarta / Riviera Nayarit region.

A total of 234 flights, national and international, will be arriving in Puerto Vallarta- Riviera Nayarit as of October 8, 2020, via the “Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz” International Airport, more than doubling the arrival of tourists to the region with compared to last September.

Data from Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) confirm that only in the week of October 8 to 14, 37 new flights will arrive from the United States —Dallas, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Los Angeles—, as well as from some cities in Mexico such as Tijuana, Guadalajara, San Luis Potosí, Monterrey and Mexico City, which will be added to those already existing since last June.

More flights from USA

In the case of the United States, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and United Airlines increased their flights and frequencies; American from Dallas, Los Angeles, and Phoenix; Alaska from Seattle, Portland, and San Diego, and United with a flight from Newark, New Jersey, with a frequency on Saturdays.

In addition, the arrival of Southwest Airlines is already expected,  which will inaugurate its flight from Phoenix on October 8, with a frequency from Thursday to Wednesday.

National airlines are not far behind, and this week will also see an increase in services from Magnicharter, Aerolitoral, Aeromar, Viva Aerobus, Volaris, and Aeroméxico.

Canadian Airlines

Additionally, Canadian airlines are also gradually resuming their services. This week  West Jet restarts operations to the region with a flight from Calgary, Alberta, with two frequencies on Saturdays. Also, ultra-low-cost carrier Swoop is scheduled to restart its flight from Edmonton starting October 25.

“Without a doubt, this is good news for our destiny, for the entire region. The fact that more airlines are flying here and that the airlines that were already operating since July continue to increase their frequencies, gives us a light of hope, this coupled with the health protocols that the GAP has implemented at the Vallarta-Nayarit airport, that guarantee the health care of the passengers ”,  said Marc Murphy, general director of the Office of Visitors and Conventions of the Riviera Nayarit (OVC).
