Los Cabos.- The coordinator of Sport Fishing Tournaments of the Fund for the Protection of Marine Resources (Fonmar), Gonzalo Alamea Camacho, and the coordinator of Bisbee’s tournaments for Mexico, Clicerio Mercado, reported at a press conference on the development of Los Cabos Offshore and Bisbee’s Black & Blue tournaments, which will take place this October. In this meeting with the media held in Cabo San Lucas, they indicated that both tournaments will be developed under the protocols established by the Commission State for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Coepris) to avoid contagion by Covid-19, specifying that they will change their headquarters, taking place at the breakwater dock of the Integral Port Administration (API) of Cabo San Lucas.
As for the Los Cabos Offshore Tournament, it was specified that it will take place from October 15 to 18, with registration on the 15th being from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., while days 16 and 17 will be fishing, while that the weighing will take place in the structure at the foot of the breakwater pier, from 12:00 to 21:00 hours.
For its part, the Bisbee’s Black & Blue Tournament will take place from October 20 to 24; establishing the 20th day of registration, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and fishing days 21,22 and 23; Weighing will be done at the foot of the jetty from 12:00 to 21:00.
In the same way, it was determined that according to protocols, only one representative of each team will attend the registration, there will be no face-to-face meeting of captains, so there will be two virtual meetings, one in English and one in Spanish, also canceling the cocktail party. welcome, and in the weighing process, only the fisherman with his piece will get off the boat, according to the rules of each tournament.
Regarding the presence of the public, the necessary and pertinent measures will be taken to avoid crowds; there will be no face-to-face coverage of reporters or photographers, so the information will be sent by email at the close of each fishing and weighing day; where access to the registration area will be controlled and only participants may enter to complete their registration and collect the fisherman’s packages.
Finally, it was established that there will be no awards dinners and the symbolic checks for Los Cabos Offshore will be delivered on Sunday, October 18 starting at 10:00 a.m. and for Bisbee’s Black & Blue on Saturday, October 24, starting at 10:00 a.m. 10:00 hours; while prize payments, an aspect that is specified in the rules, will be offered by check or transfer in dollars to accounts in Mexico and/or the United States.
