Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Highway connectivity with the Northern Economic Corridor and the influx of tourism from the center and north of the state generate a 50% hotel occupancy in Mazatlán on weekends.

The secretary of the Mazatlán Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism, Guillermo Romero Rodríguez, commented that with the arrival of tourists, the city’s restaurants and shops maintain their sales at 40%.

“We thought that in August the arrival of tourists would decrease, but there is still a lot of activity. In September, which is traditionally a very low month, hotel occupancy has been at the top of its allowed capacity, we have a lot of tourism that continues to visit us from the so-called Northern Economic Corridor and the center of Sinaloa ”, he said.

Romero Rodríguez commented that online classes have helped Mazatlán continue with great boom, because families come during the week, students take classes in the morning and walk in the afternoon.

He noted that the trend will continue for October, this is due to road connectivity with states such as Durango, Chihuahua, Torreón, Nayarit and Jalisco.

However, he admitted that not all businesses have been able to recover 100%, what is a reality is that Mazatlán has been one of the sun and beach destinations with a better reactivation process in all of Mexico.

“The hotels, restaurants, shops are already open, Mazatlán has been one of the few tourist destinations that took that great step at the national level to reactivate the economy and we hope that soon they can reopen 100% of the businesses, that some of them bring problems with the rents, especially because they have not reached an agreement with the owners of the properties ”, he concluded.
