“The support we are providing goes direct to the fishermen,” AMLO said. And this statement was not taken in a good way by the fishermen of Mazatlán.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- There is disappointment, sadness and annoyance in fishermen, after the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, confirmed in his morning conference that there will be no subsidy for marine diesel.

The support today goes direct to the fishermen” reiterated the Executive of the Nation. This statement fell like a bucket of cold water, according to seamen who returned to protest outside the Conapesca facilities.

Agustín González, stressed that the president’s bad decisions harm the fishermen and their families.

Pedro Sánchez, with 49 years in this activity, sadly sees that not everyone is going to be able to go fishing. There are businessmen with 20 vessels, and only 8 vessels are going to operate, due to the lack of economic support for fuel.

José Luis Cervantes, has been in this activity for 11 years and feels concerned about the authority’s decision.

Some fishermen say they do not plan to withdraw and will continue to protest against the poor decisions of the Mexican president until their voices are heard.
