Acapulco Government issues an Alert for tropical storm “Hernán”

The tropical depression “13-E” intensified into a tropical storm “Hernán”, a phenomenon located Wednesday afternoon at 215 kilometers from Colima in interaction with a strong entry of humidity generates a rainy storm that affects the coasts of the Mexican Pacific in Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, and Oaxaca.

According to the latest evening report from the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the coordinator of Civil Protection in Acapulco, Cuauhtémoc Gayosso Pérez, reported that in the next few hours there will be torrential rains in several regions of Guerrero, including Acapulco with gusts of wind from 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.

The rains could cause landslides, river overflows and floods, as well as high waves of 1 to 3 meters on the coasts of Guerrero and Oaxaca, so citizens are urged to take extreme precautions and avoid walking near channels and streams as well as evacuating homes in the face of some threat from nature to occupy the temporary shelters.

The Municipal Government, headed by President Adela Román Ocampo, is attentive to the evolution of hydrometeorological phenomena, and makes the emergency lines 911 and 072 available to citizens, as well as the Civil Protection numbers 744 440 70 31 and 744 485 61 70.
