The director of the association of hotels and tourism companies of Mazatlan, pointed out that, except for some weekend bridges that could improve the tourist arrival.

Mazatlá, Sinaloa.- The number of hotel reservations could decrease as of next Monday, with the reopening of classes.

The director of the association of hotels and tourism companies of Mazatlán, (AHyET), Julio Birrueta, pointed out that the rest of the year will slow, except for some long weekends that could improve the tourist panorama.

Birrueta stressed that even in high season, the figures that were maintained in years prior to the health emergency cannot be compared.

After not working for more than 4 months due to the confinement derived from the pandemic, the first stage of the sector was to start tourism.

The number of workforce that operated in the reopening is the same as in the normal or low season.

During the month of July, reservations in the entire port of Mazatlán came up to 40 percent, while in August it increased to 45 percent.

The objective of the association will be to preserve as much as possible the number of jobs. However, they are optimistic and hope that the situation will improve.

"We are going to recover YES or YES... there is no other option," concluded Julio Birrueta.
