Reservations are given at the last minute, but those that were already booked are also rescheduled

Mazatlán, Sin.- The tourist revival is already beginning to be felt in Mazatlán and according to hotel reservations , a minimum occupancy of 35% is estimated for this weekend.

The director of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán, Julio Birrueta, stated that establishments in the Golden Zone have registered an average occupancy of 30% and for the third week of July and early August it is expected to reach 40 %, maximum level allowed by the authorities while the traffic light continues red.

The reactivation is as we had proposed and we wanted it to be gradual, in that sense we are doing very well, step by step, we have a limit and this will continue as long as the epidemiological traffic light remains red.

Julio Birrueta commented that interest in vacationing in Mazatlán continues, but there are also those who definitely will not do so due to the economic situation.

He pointed out that in this new normality, reservations are given at the last minute, but those who already had them are rescheduling them, due to the restrictions they have in their states.

Everything is up to the minute, still on Thursday the hotel phones were ringing, both for new reservations and for rescheduling dates before the end of the year.

He added that one of the problems that currently arise in the city is the reluctance on the part of citizens and tourists to abide by all the preventive measures that have been issued by the health sector, especially the use of a mouthpiece, which is why it seeks working with the authorities so that this does not affect the sector.

The hotel leader confirmed that travelers arrive by charter buses, mainly from the states that make up the northern economic corridor, Chihuahua, Nuevo León, Durango, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Coahuila, Nayarit and Zacatecas.
