There are 26 palapas that operate in the beach area, which are already being restored in case of reactivation

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Palaperos from Isla de la Piedra do not see their future clearly since they fear that the confinement will drag on and that the economic crisis that they have been dragging on for two months due to the closure will continue, said his trustee, Víctor Manuel Aguirre Peña.

He commented that they have the uncertainty about the reopening of their businesses from June 1, so they are preparing with the restoration of their palapas but not with perishable products.

“We do not want to relive what happened eagerly awaiting the Easter season that never came, which in the end we had to eat our supplies and were very indebted to the suppliers since we were forced to close our businesses due to the pandemic,” he said.

Aguirre Peña said that there are 26 Palaperos established in the beach area of the Isla de la Piedra, however, he said that despite the situation, merchants are optimistic about reopening, and some are giving the so-called ‘ tiding up’ to their businesses.
