The Ministry of Health assures that more drastic measures must be taken prior to Mother’s Day
Sinaloa – The Secretary of Health in Sinaloa, Efrén Encinas Torres, announced that the number of people infected with Covid-19 will grow in the coming days, a result of the fact that Sinaloans did not respect social distancing during Children’s Day.
Encinas Torres indicated that due to the lack of awareness of the citizens who decided to leave and not respect the quarantine, it is very likely that there will be more cases in the state.
According to the average incubation period of the disease, which ranges from three to five days, the first cases related to the agglomerations of people registered on the occasion of Children’s Day, will begin to manifest from May 5 to 7.
Encinas Torres highlighted that although the Federal Health Secretariat in its conference indicated that Sinaloa had already passed the peak of contagions, the projections they make are based on mathematical models considering the ideal scenarios, but with the departure of citizens on the streets, that do not apply in the state.
“They are projections based on statistics, on numbers, on mathematical models, and they are not always 100 percent faithful. There is always a margin of error. It would be desirable for this to be the case, we have always pointed out that in order to achieve this, the participation of citizens is required, hopefully, and this is the way we behave, we would like it to be so, and therefore the impact of yesterday and what could be repeated on 10 May, would not allow maintaining that flattering figure expressed by the undersecretary, Dr. López Gatel, “said the person in charge of Health in Sinaloa.
The official indicated that the call is in general to the citizens, to take care of themselves and their families, to be responsible, to stay home, to join the efforts made by the authorities, since anyone can get sick and die as a result of Covid-19.
He mentioned that some of the patients have no symptoms, but they do spread the disease, which can have fatal consequences for older people, and those who have compromised immune systems.
