Up to 19 cases of violence against women per week are reported in Mazatlán

The director of Mazatlan’s Municipal Institute for Women, María del Carmen Ramírez Morales, said that there is still a situation of gender violence in general, and that femicides are painful any day of the year.

She reported that in the last week, the Municipal Institute for Women offered a total of 70 supports to victims of violence, including psychological, legal and social work care, of which 19 people came to the Institute for the first time for questions of violence.

He commented that the violence that prevailed this week was more than anything psychological, followed by physical and sexual violence, and finally, economic violence.

He indicated that the Institute continues to attend cases of violence against women in a very punctual manner, assisting people with individual and group therapy every Thursday afternoon, from 4:00 to 7:00 at night; group therapy occurs in the psychological aspect, according to the theme that specialists consider.

Finally, Ramírez Morales said that in the last week, the Municipal Institute for Women in Mazatlán, offered a total of 70 supports to victims of violence, including psychological, legal and social work care, of which 19 people came for First time to the Institute for violence reasons.
