Beware of false peso bills in Mazatlan

The president of the Canaco in Sinaloa, Jesús Sandoval Gaxiola, said that with the arrival of tourists, that come to enjoy the Carnival, pickpockets and false peso-bills could also arrive to the port, so he advices to take precautions.

“We have not had problems so far, but usually at this time of the year, when there is a large influx of tourists, false peso bills start popping up, so it is recommended that all restaurants, shops and business in general, have ultraviolet light false bill detectors”, said Jesus Sandoval Gaxiola.

He also added, they asked the municipal Public Security Secretariat to redouble surveillance in the Center and carnival areas, as well as in the popular colonias of Mazatlan.

Sandoval Gaxiola estimated that for this carnival season there will be 100% hotel occupancy, and an economic spill of more than 500 million pesos in this sector due to the masive arrival of tourists.

He explained that the most benefited areas during the days of Carnival, are the Historic Center, the Golden Zone, especially the restaurants located along these tourist areas.

The business chamber leader stated that the Carnival season comes to benefit the tourism sector significantly.
