Vicky Ibarra has participated in the organization of the Gay Pride March of Mazatlan and has collected signatures to make equal marriage a reality in Sinaloa
Tecuala, Nayarit .- The activist and defender of the rights of the LGBT community in Mazatlan and Sinaloa, Vicky Ibarra, married her partner on the border between Sinaloa and Nayarit.
This, as a protest, because two people of the same sex are not allowed to marry in Sinaloa.
“Being a lesbian and getting married in our state is a strong political act, only tyrants don’t see the damage they do to us by labeling us and treating us as second-class citizens. (I had) move to another state to be able to assert our right to marriage; today we get married at the border of our state, where a line divides not only Nayarit with Sinaloa, divides rights, respects people for being people; that line becomes a gap between an inclusive state and a state that discriminates.
The civil act occurred off the coast of Teacapán, Sinaloa, in Tecuala, Nayarit.
