Mazatlan Blue Route Now in Operation

With the purpose of supporting low-income families, who have a member with disabilities and who receive therapies in one of the various rehabilitation centers of the Sinaloa DIF System, Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel and Mrs. Rosy Fuentes de Ordaz, put the Blue Route into operation, which consists of providing transportation service with special units to move these people from their homes to receive their therapies and back to their homes.

To do this, 18 Transit and Urban units were put into operation, equipped with hydraulic ramps for boarding people with disabilities, with everything and their wheelchair, in which six million pesos were invested, and which will provide transportation service to more than 150 people daily in the three main cities of the state, for the transfer from the homes to the CRRI Mochis, CRRI Mazatlán, CREE Culiacán, the Autism Center of Sinaloa and the Integral Center of Visual Weakness (CIDIS).

Before giving the symbolic starting signal to the units, in the esplanade of the Autism Center of Sinaloa, Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel said that support for people with disabilities is a priority issue for him, since he said he identifies with them, since he suffered in his own flesh a facial paralysis that forced him to resort to therapy sessions for a long time.

“This issue is a priority, and I will always be an ally of people with disabilities, to give them the place they deserve,” said the governor.

As an example of this will, he explained that during his government 280 million pesos have already been invested in support to this sector of the population, which has generated that the services have doubled with respect to the previous administration, where one million were registered 600 thousand services, while from 2017 to date, in just three years of his government, the number of these amounted to 3 million 300 thousand.

Regarding this service, the state leader said that it is to think about people who have these needs for therapies, because he said that there are surely many cases in which these people cannot move to rehabilitation centers due to lack of a means of transportation.

In this regard, the president of the Sinaloa DIF System, Rosy Fuentes de Ordaz, explained that these units will be available to these families, who may request service to the DIF and through a socioeconomic study a recovery fee will be determined that will range between 30 and 60 pesos, however in special cases the service will have no cost, in the case of families with very limited resources and the purpose is to provide 4,000 transfers per month.

“It’s about offering a service to people with disabilities, who often do not have the means of transport, leave their therapies unfinished, and it is very important that they have continuity to see progress in their rehabilitation,” he said.

Mrs. Rosy said that the DIF is setting a pattern, not only in the creation of new rehabilitation spaces, such as the Autism Center, the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and the Emotional Health Center (CRECE), -which form this complex where the flag was given – but also in the approach with the people who require these therapies, with the provision of this transport service.

“I feel very happy to give the starting signal of these 18 units of this Blue Route, which will be fulfilling that goal that people for a lack of transportation run out of the attention they need to get ahead to reintegrate into a family life , social and labor ”, he concluded.

The Secretary of Social Development, Ricardo Madrid Pérez, were also special guests for this banner; the Undersecretary of Health Care, Víctor Hugo Sánchez Malof; the director of Roads and Transport, Feliciano Valle Sandoval; the director of the DIF, Connie Zazueta; and the president of the State Commission of Human Rights, José Carlos Álvarez Ortega.
