Mazatlan is “bursting with tourists” in the prelude to the New Year celebration.

Since last week, the Tres Islas Hotel Association reported that the average hotel occupancy was at 75 percent for Christmas, and that by the end of the year 100 percent would be reached!

“Yes there is a lot of tourism, I think it will end up being a very good season, even before Christmas it looked like a great year, and now there are tourists all over the place,” said taxi driver Omar Gárate, while driving down Gaviotas Avenue.

The Ministry of Tourism of the State Government, represented by Óscar Pérez Barros, intends to conclude 2019 with a 20 percent increase in the tourism sector over 2018 throughout the state.

“This means an economic spill of 30 billion pesos statewide, and 4 million tourists, 10 percent more than last year, and most of them are visiting Mazatlan”, Pérez Barros concluded.
