Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- With a projection of 577 thousand 467 visitors for the 2022 summer vacations, Mazatlán will have recovered almost 100 percent by the end of this year, said the President of Canaco Servytur Sinaloa Sur, Roberto Lem Gonzalez.

Mazatlan will recover the levels of international tourism it had in 2019, before the covid-19 pandemic, at the end of 2022, said the representative of organized merchants in southern Sinaloa.

“After the Pandemic, we learned that the profile of the tourist was modified because they want more spaced places, more in contact with nature, with folklore, gastronomy, nature; that, at the same time, opens up the great possibility of continuing to stay in that place”, he explained.

The number of tourists that will arrive in Mazatlan during these summer vacations will grow by 45 percent, compared to 2021, which was 398,253.

Between 2021 and 2022 there would be a difference in tourists amounting to 179 thousand 214 visitors, is the expectation that throws with official figures from the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism Sinaloa Sur.

This summer the average number of visitors per week is expected to be 96,245 tourists, unlike the year 2021, which was 44,250 people.

According to information from Datatur, Mazatlan is the third tourist destination that receives the most visits in the entire country, with 2 million 514 thousand 819 tourists a year.

21.8 percent of the Gross Domestic Product produced by Sinaloa is concentrated in the south of the state. Mazatlan leads the dynamics of the economy, trade contributes 66.5% and tourism 33.5%

Currently, twelve hotels are being built in Mazatlan, which will add 2,457 more rooms.
