One of the best-known places in Mazatlan for tourists and locals: Sea Shell City, Shell Museum is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Francisco Páez, owner of the museum was very happy because what began as a private collection of his parents, is now one of the most emblematic places in Mazatlan.

In addition to being a museum, the place is a jewelry and handicraft shop made with shells and snails made entirely by hand by locals.

Francisco Páez said that for next year, the museum will have a radical remodeling in its structure.

“We want it to be a real museum, that there are sections to explain the origin of each of the shells and snails, where they come from and why their color,” he said.

It will be sought that the museum be a meeting point for institutions, that conferences and presentations be made in the place.
