Mazatlan Sinaloa.- The Municipal Ecology and Environment Directorate launched this Sunday the campaign “EL Estero no es Basurero”, with which it seeks to raise awareness of the Mazatlecos, but especially residents of the surrounding colonies, in the care and preservation of the Estero del Infiernillo.

This campaign, promoted by the Government of Mazatlan and the municipal DIF System, began with the delivery of leaflets on Circunvalación Avenue and advanced through other streets adjacent to the estuary.

Lourdes Sanjuan Gallardo, director of municipal Ecology and Environment, said that to care for and keep the environment clean, education and citizen awareness are paramount.

He added that the information contained in the flyers is a reminder not to throw trash, tires, waste or debris on the banks of the estuary; In addition to information on the days in which the collection truck passes through the area.

The municipal official said that the sanitation days, the next construction projects in the area, as well as the environmental education of people living in the surroundings should improve the environment.

«You can do everything, on the one hand, do the cleaning, take out all the garbage; educate people, raise awareness and most importantly, denounce who continues to do these bad actions against nature. So here it is clean, aware and denounce ».

On this day, Municipal Ecology and DIF Mazatlan personnel participated, while workers of Urban Cleanliness, of the Municipal Public Services Department, removed the wastes that were found on the shore of Estero del Infiernillo.
