According to Nicole Finkelstein, director of the civil association AHF Mexico, the main reasons for the population not to use the condom are lack of information, violence in the couple and prejudices regarding this barrier method, so he stressed the importance of demystifying condom use, especially among young people between 15 and 29 years of age, since they are the population group with the highest rate of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
On the other hand, Blanca Torres, coordinator of the rapid HIV tests of AHF Mexico – Centro Region, stressed that condom use, if used correctly, represents one of the most effective methods to prevent pregnancy and prevent STIs, such as HIV, syphilis or gonorrhea For this reason, AHF Mexico also launched its “Always Fashion” campaign whose purpose is to promote the use of condoms.
