The president of the Senate, Marti Batres acknowledged that before October 25 the Congress of the Union has to resolve the issue of recreational, medical and other use of marijuana .
For this task, an open parliament exercise was organized where specialists, academics and legislators will analyze the legislative route to approve cannabis regulation.
“Here we have very different points of view. There is, on the one hand, the objective of not deepening punitive policies that have been applied at other times and that have not had great results. Also, on the other hand, there is a concern of the Government of the Republic of walking towards peace, and contemplating and analyzing the set of initiatives that lead to it. On the other hand, we must not forget the concern of those who seek not to deepen addictions. All these approaches must be taken into account when a decision is made, ”said the legislator in an interview.
On August 12, 14 and 16, 2019, the Senate will host the Thematic Coffee “Heading to the regulation of cannabis”, where people and groups of society interested in the subject, as well as various specialists, will debate in order to enrich the work of opinion in the matter.
