Experts point out that in Mexico they have not been developed because the sea must first be subdivided
The state of Sinaloa is suitable to develop offshore wind farms because of Altata to the north could be established without problem since there are deep areas indicated, José Rosas Acuña, general director of the Wind Development Mexico project (DEOMM ).
He said that in other parts of the world such projects are a reality but that in Mexico they do not develop because the sea must first be subdivided to give certainty to the property, in addition to the fact that a law is required, which was already developed in Germany and that could be approved for this country, so I estimate that in two more years we could advance on the delimitation of the waters safeguarding the interests of the parties involved.
“From Altata to the north we have areas with adequate depth from 0 to 200 meters, we will have about 5 thousand, 6 thousand square kilometers here in Sinaloa where we can place it,” he said.
He specified that the minimum potential calculated in Mexico would be 400 gigawatt when the entire country is covered with 80 gigawatt, which would guarantee the supply of clean energy.
Finally, he advanced that the normative framework is already advancing and that in a lapse of 3 or 4 years the first polygons in the nation could already be being built and for which an investment of one thousand to one thousand 500 million dollars in each one of the projects.
