The head of the SEDESU said that “Muévete Chilo Sinaloa” is the starting point to address important issues such as the design of streets with spaces for non-motorized mobility and shade “comes to promote a new culture of mobility, which is an effort in which we must work society and government, as well as encourage the use of bicycles as the main alternative of mobility together with public transport “.

He explained that the BikeNCity consultancy began this week with a series of sensitization and training workshops where civil organizations, cyclists, university students, transporters, police and traffic agents will participate; In addition, the lifting of cyclopuertos will be done and the cycling infrastructure that exists in the city will be evaluated.

“In the world each city faces important challenges to operate these systems, as is the case of road safety, geographical conditions and climate, the cities of Sinaloa are not the exception and we are working on that,” he said .

Carlos Gandarilla indicated that the first studies showed as a preliminary polygon an extension of 5.8 kilometers taking as a reference the center of the city, whose limits would be Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez to the north, Zapata Boulevard to the south with Ignacio Aldama street and Leyva boulevard Solano; to the east the Venustiano Carranza street, with Rafael Buena and Xicoténcatl; to the west the Nicolás Bravo street.

He added that the investment made by the State Government in studies and equipment will be 1.5 million pesos and it is estimated that “Muévete Chilo Sinaloa” operates in Culiacán with 350 bicycles in 50 cycle stations; The operating company that obtains the permit or the concession of the service will be in charge of the investment in bicycles and operating personnel.

Carlos Gandarilla emphasized that in Mazatlán the system operates with great success through a mobile application with a georeferencing system and has become an excellent alternative for short trips at a rate of 5 pesos per simple trip and at a much lower cost if Acquires a monthly, semi-annual or annual membership.

In his speech, the municipal president of Culiacán, Jesús Estrada Ferreiro, said that the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists should be a priority during the planning, implementation and execution of the public bicycle service.
