Mazatlan Mayor proposes IMSS Hospital be converted for Medical Tourism

This would be as part of a series of agreements between Social Security and the City Council, which would also involve making a tower of specialties in what is currently the General Hospital Martiniano Carvajal that will soon be abandoned

Mazatlan, Sinaloa. – The agreements that are cooked between the City Council of Mazatlan and Social Security are important, because among them different issues are raised such as the affiliation of the more than 3 thousand workers in the municipality to the Insurance and to the transformation of the so-called Seguro Viejo (Clinic 45 of the IMSS) located on Avenida Del Mar to be a hospital for tourists, said the mayor of Mazatlan, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres.

“There are several issues, Social Security is committed to enable the clinic that is in Avenida del Mar and make it a clinic for tourists, a clinic for medical services for tourism,” he said.

That would not be the only agreement, because in the General Hospital “Martiniano Carvajal, which will soon be abandoned because the services will move to the New General Hospital, the placement of a Tower of Specialties was proposed, which is specifically for each treatment .

“Another is to make a tower of specialties here in Mazatlan, and that would be a benefit for everyone; would streamline services, improve quality. There are many interesting things, “he said.

And there is even more, because the agreement between Social Security would imply that the IMSS Theater, located in the Seguro Viejo, will be administered by the Municipality to be able to hold events there and not only at the Ángela Peralta Theater.

“There is an agreement for the Social Security Theater to be administered by the presidency, this would help a lot because there is a lot of demand from the Ángela Peralta Theater, but the theater is very expensive and that gives us the possibility of offering another site for this type of activities, “he said .
