Culiacán and Mazatlán are the municipalities with the most arrival of passengers.
Before the strategy of the State Government, which began in 2017 to increase connectivity in Sinaloa, the Tourism Secretariat has strengthened ties with agencies and airlines in other countries, to establish new air routes and cruises that can reach the main destinations of the entity.
As a result of this work, in 2018 there was an increase of 12 percent in the arrival of domestic and international flights, with the Culiacán airport having the highest arrivals by 52 percent.
While in the arrival of cruise ships, there was a record of 9 percent more compared to 2017.
This has allowed the economic development of the state to increase, especially in tourist destinations.
It is the port of Mazatlan, which has received the largest number of visitors through the arrival of 10 new cruises with more than 200 thousand passengers; while Culiacan by air has received one million 800 thousand passengers, highlighting the authorities that some come for business reasons, others use the airport as connectivity, to later move in rented vehicles or bus to the port of Mazatlan.
Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel, through the tourism promotion program, held a meeting with executives of Canadian airlines in order to bring arrivals from this country to the port, this being the only destination in Mexico that is in the process of transformation with new tourist attractions and the construction of new hotel chains.
In this agreement, an itinerary was achieved so that inhabitants of cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Regina can visit Sinaloa.
These visits will continue to be made by the Ministry of Tourism, so that this year increases the arrival of cruise ships to other ports such as Topolobampo, which in 2018 registered just two arrivals.
