Merida, Yucatan, A series of negotiations that began a year ago the business sector and state authorities, Yucatan would be, at last, the headquarters of the Tourism Tianguis of Mexico 2020, the most important event of this industry in national territory, which attracts buyers from 60 countries.
The official announcement would be made on Tuesday, April 9 at 8:00 p.m. in Acapulco, Guerrero, headquarters of the 44th edition of the Tianguis, according to reports from sources close to the Ministry of Tourism of the federal government.
In this way, an old wish of the service providers of Yucatan and of the tourism authorities themselves would be fulfilled, who in 2016 were one step away from winning the headquarters, which was finally awarded to Guadalajara.
On this occasion, the headquarters of the Tianguis was requested since April 2018, when the business sector requested the support of the State government to achieve that goal. In this sense, a letter of intent was signed between the Business Coordinating Council and the State Executive and in June of that same year, that concern was raised to the then Secretary of Federal Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid, who offered to meet the demand of the Yucatecans. .
The theme of the Tianguis was part of the pending issues to manage in the transition process with the change of government, and at the request of the business sector the current administration gave continuity to this request, which today finally seems to bear fruit.
