The parliamentary group of Morena in the Chamber of Deputies presented an initiative that aims to prevent union leaders from being elected as federal deputies in the upcoming elections of this category.

Said pronouncement was officially made by Deputy Víctor Adolfo Mojica , where Morena seeks to amend Article 55 of the Constitution so that no leader of trade unions or workers can be elected deputy, unless he resigns his duties six months earlier of the elections.

“Not be a leader of any workers’ union, unless it is definitively separated from its functions six months before the day of the election”, expresses the modification presented by the party.

To conclude, Mojica emphasized that, ” Those who have thus reached this popular sovereignty, have only denigrated that representation by showing off their wealth , obtained at the expense of the poverty of the union members to their unions, and become, in past legislatures, only in raising fingers to justify anti-people policies “.
