Mazatlan, Sin.- With 10 to 15 percent, the hotel sector increased the room rates for rooms, since most of the products increased in an unexpected way, said José Ramón Manguart Sánchez.

The president of the Association Hotels and Motels “Three Islands” in Mazatlan said that the increase in supplies has suffered in most sectors, so they fear being affected, since Mazatlan has had growth in hotel occupancy for more than 5 years, and this should not be the exception.

“The increase in rates will at least have an impact of ten percent, if not more, everything will go to expensive and even from the restaurants there has been significant increase in supplies.”

The entrepreneur said that through the Mexican Association of Hotels it is promoted to seek protections to see how to maintain the price of electricity for a long term, since it exceeded the 2018 budget for the entire sector, rising from 80 up to 120 percent.

“To see how it can, while not going down at least stay or stagnate the price for a while, because the truth was something very unexpected since we expected the opposite that it would go down and it turns out not”.

Manguart Sanchez said that they are working together with the Secretary of Tourism to not let go of the market that has been strengthening the destination since the important thing is that Mazatlan remains available to all tourists.
