Hotel reservations at 80% due to Mazatlan Carnival 2019

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Hoteliers reported a high occupancy for the Carnival week, which will be held from Thursday, February 28 to Tuesday, March 5. They stated that there is an increase compared to last year.

Some hotels register a demand of 80 percent, while others walk by 60 percent for the referred period. They explained that the type of tourist that registers the most for these dates is the national one. The largest influx of visitors comes from Torreón, Durango, and part of Chihuahua, although there is also a presence of people from Jalisco. 

They mentioned that compared to other years, reservations in 2019 have gone up very fast and that it is expected to continue increasing, especially since the date is near, since one of the characteristics of this type of tourist is that it is presented at last hour.

The days with the highest occupancy are from Friday, March 1 to Sunday, March 3. In some cases, it goes down to 65 percent occupancy in the remainder of the week. With respect to the rates, they stay between 2 thousand 500 and 1,500 per night in a room for two people. 

Alfredo Zenteno, commercial director of the Playa Mazatlan hotel, explained that most tourists are looking for an all-inclusive service, where they can give a wider experience. 

He added that this type of services has allowed the lodging center to remain attractive for tourists despite the increase in holiday apartments and the arrival of digital platforms that facilitate accommodation for visitors.

He noted that not only is expected a high influx in carnival, but also so far this winter season has registered an increase of 22 percent compared to last year.
