Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- The Mar de Cortés Aquarium, part of the Mazatlán Central Park, is a reality and construction works will begin in the coming weeks.
The consortium of four companies ABEQU Constructora owned by Bernardino Quintana, former director of ICA, Constructora Marko, Vancouver Aquarium and Operadora Audax, were the winners of the tender and will sign the contract with the state government on Tuesday October 30.
The new Mazatlan Aquarium, will be built under the scheme of Public Private Partnership and will cost 1.2 billion pesos. The project has been designed to serve up to five thousand visitors simultaneously and it’s projected to receive, in its third year of operations, 900 thousand annual visitors.
The project will have more than 12,000 squqre meters of construction and five million liters of water in use, with this, the Mazatlan Aquarium will be the most avant-garde in all Latin America.
The Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa, Óscar Pérez Barros, said that the Central Park project as well as the new Aquarium, will be the new attractions of the destination.
