Tropical storm Sergio touches land in Baja California Sur more rain expected in Sinaloa

According to the National Meteorological Service, tropical storm Sergio is on land 75 kilometers east of Punta Abrejos, BCS

It moves northwest at 39 kilometers per hour with sustained winds of 70 kilometers per hour and gusts of 85 kilometers per hour.

In Sinaloa the tropical storm will leave intervals of showers with strong point storms that would leave rains of 25 to 50 millimeters in the north of the State.

The storm zones could be accompanied by lightning, hail fall and strong gusts of wind.

In Sinaloa, the Ministry of Public Education and Culture announced the suspension of classes in eight municipalities due to the storm “Sergio”.

Through a press release, that state agency reported that the decision obeys recommendations of the State Civil Protection Institute of Sinaloa.

The suspension of school activities will be north of the State in the municipalities of Ahome, Angostura, Choix, El Fuerte, Gustave, Mocorito, Salvador Alvarado and Sinaloa de Leyva.

“Sergio” has winds of 70 kilometers per hour and gusts of 85 kilometers per hour. If it continues with its current direction and speed of travel, a second impact is estimated in the Sonora coasts, between Bahía de Kino and Guaymas, between 10:00 and 12:00 hours, local time of said entity, said Conagua.

“The cloud bands extend over the Peninsula of Baja California and the northwest of Mexico, provoking potential of very strong storms to intense punctuations in the south of Baja California, north of Baja California Sur and Sonora, and punctual storms very strong in Chihuahua” , said the government agency.
