This afternoon, an Aeromexico 190 Embraer aircraft collapsed seconds after takeoff from the Guadalupe Victoria airport in Durango bound for Mexico City. Aeromexico reported on its Twitter account that the plane had a capacity for 100 passengers.

President Enrique Peña Nieto, also on Twitter, reported that he instructed the Ministry of National Defense, the National Civil Protection System and the Ministry of Communications and Transportation to “collaborate in the care of the air accident in Durango.” He added: “I vow that the crew and all passengers are well.”

The incident occurred in the vicinity of the airport in the city of Durango, capital of the state of the same name and more than 900 kilometers northwest of the Mexican capital.

The journalist Azucena Uresti, from Grupo Milenio, shared a video allegedly taken at the scene of the accident. According to the journalist, who was one of the moderators of the first presidential debate, “there is talk of 80 injured after collapse” of the Aeromexico plane. “The team is an Embraer 190 on the Mexico-Durango route,” according to Uresti.
