The high demand recorded on the Guadalajara–Mazatlán route prompted Volaris to increase its operations, going from three to four flights per week starting in November, announced Mireya Sosa Osuna.
The Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa highlighted that the airline has been very satisfied with the performance of its recently launched routes connecting to Mazatlán, both from Guadalajara and Querétaro.
She noted that Volaris has reported occupancy rates that exceeded its expectations for this flight, which was launched in March and contributes to strengthening air connectivity.
“We are doing extraordinarily well. Volaris is very happy with the flights from Guadalajara and Querétaro. We can even announce that, thanks to the success of this route, in November the frequency will increase from three to four days, and it is possible that we will continue increasing it,” Sosa Osuna said.
Sosa Osuna emphasized that bringing new flights to the destination is a major challenge, but maintaining them is equally important in order to take advantage of every opportunity for growth.
She explained that the increase in flight frequency by Volaris not only strengthens connectivity with key markets such as Western Mexico and the Bajío region, but also creates opportunities for continued growth in the arrival of visitors.
As part of this growth, she added that during 2026, the increase in available seats amounted to approximately 125,276 additional seats in Mazatlán’s air connectivity. Of these, 90,024 correspond to domestic flights and 35,252 to international flights.
The head of the Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) also revealed that discussions are currently underway with Mexicana de Aviación to analyze the possibility of establishing connections to destinations such as Mérida and Campeche through Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), although these operations have not yet been confirmed.
