A U.S. citizen and alleged member of the Sinaloa Cartel, Janero Van de Mario Garrett, was arrested by Mexican authorities in Mazatlán for deportation purposes. He is considered one of the 10 most wanted by police in Michigan, United States, for drug trafficking.
The federal Security Cabinet reported this Monday that Janero “N”, of the “Los Chapos” faction, was arrested by Mexican authorities in Sinaloa, as a result of inter-institutional information sharing with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Marshals Service.
This operation was led by the Mexican Navy (Semar), the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), along with the National Migration Institute (INM).
According to the Cabinet, an arrest warrant was issued for a U.S. citizen wanted in the state of Michigan, prompting the implementation of surveillance and security patrols in the Telleria neighborhood of Mazatlán.
“Based on the information obtained, intelligence and investigative work was carried out, leading to a coordinated operation in Mazatlán, where the arrest warrant against Janero “N” was executed. The detainee was informed of his legal rights and transferred to INM (National Migration Institute) facilities to continue his deportation process to the United States,” the Cabinet stated.
The Federal Security Cabinet noted that this action exemplifies coordinated efforts to apprehend individuals who generate violence and are wanted by other countries, based on the principles of respect for sovereignty, shared responsibility, mutual trust, and cooperation without subordination.
