Armed civilians attempted to steal a driver’s SUV after a chase on Friday morning, July 17, along Rafael Buelna Avenue.

According to preliminary reports, the victim was driving a black Jeep Rubicon when he was pursued by individuals on four motorcycles. The chase extended to the roundabout in front of the Valentino nightclub, where the assailants tried to block his path and force him to hand over the vehicle.

This week in Mazatlán, multiple violent incidents have been reported, leaving at least three people dead in different parts of the port city.

The individuals who attempted to steal the vehicle were unsuccessful and fled the scene without taking the SUV, while the driver managed to escape unharmed.

Following a report to the emergency number, members of the National Guard and the Municipal Public Security Secretariat arrived at the scene to cordon off the area and secure the area, while personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office began the corresponding investigation.

No arrests have been reported so far, and no further details have been released.
