Air Canada will open a direct Vancouver-Mazatlán flight in the 2026-2027 winter season

The state of Sinaloa will strengthen its international air connectivity with the opening of the new direct Vancouver-Mazatlán route, which will be operated by Air Canada starting in the 2026-2027 winter season.

According to the official announcement, the new connection will begin operations on December 15, 2026, and will run until April 9, 2027, with two weekly flights on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The Governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, emphasized that the arrival of this route represents progress in the state’s international connectivity strategy and underscored that it reflects the confidence of foreign airlines, as well as the preference of Canadian tourists for the state.

“We continue to strengthen Sinaloa’s international connectivity. For the first time, Air Canada is arriving in our state with the direct Vancouver-Mazatlán route,” the governor stated, explaining that this connection aims to generate greater tourism, investment, and economic development.

For her part, the Secretary of Tourism for Sinaloa, Mireya Sosa Osuna, stated that the opening of the route is the result of coordinated work between the Government of Sinaloa and the Central North Airport Group (OMA), with the goal of increasing the arrival of international passengers to the state.

The official indicated that the addition of new air routes from Canada is part of a strategy to strengthen international connectivity and consolidate Mazatlán as one of the most competitive destinations on the Mexican Pacific coast.

According to the information released, the flight will depart from Vancouver at 8:25 a.m. and arrive in Mazatlán at 2:00 p.m. The return flight will depart from the Sinaloa port city at 2:55 p.m. and land in the Canadian city at 6:55 p.m.

State authorities emphasized that the arrival of Air Canada, considered Canada’s flagship airline and one of the leading providers of scheduled passenger service in that market, will increase Mazatlán’s international visibility, expand connectivity, and diversify tourism markets to attract higher-value travelers.

Air Canada’s Commercial Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Luis Noriega Benet, noted that Mexico is a strategic market for the airline and affirmed the company’s commitment to strengthening its route network between the two countries.

Meanwhile, OMA’s CEO, Ricardo Dueñas, stated that the addition of this new route is part of the airport group’s strategy to boost international connectivity for the cities where it operates, as well as their competitiveness as hubs for economic and tourism development.
